Rev. Dr. Calvin Rice

 
Senior Pastor

On July 14, 2004, Rev. Dr. Calvin Rice was overwhelmingly elected to succeed NJBC Founder, Rev. James C. Kelly, and began his pastorate on January 2, 2005. 

 

As Senior Pastor, Dr. Rice has overall responsibility to preach the gospel, administer the ordinances, watch over the membership, and have charge of the spiritual welfare of the congregation and the stated services of public worship.

Rev. John Erskine

Director of Membership Care
& Assistant to the Pastor

The Membership Care Ministry is an extension of Pastoral Care.  Under the direction of the Pastor, the Membership Care Ministry serves to aid and assist in meeting the needs of the Church Membership as well as community with any liturgical or ecumenical concerns that may arise. 


Rev. John Erskine has diligently assumed the role as Director of this Ministry, as well as assisting the Pastor with day to day activities concerning the immediate church and church family.

Rev. Cordelle Newberry

Rev. Cordelle Newberry is the Assistant Director of the Membership Care Ministry.  In this capacity she assists Rev. John Erskine with visiting the sick, assisting the needy, ministering to the bereaved, counseling the hurting, officiating funerals and weddings (when requested), assisting the Diaconate Ministry with new members, as well as with a host of other ministerial functions.

Min. LaVonne Erskine

Spiritual Development Director

Dr. LaVonne Erskine is an Associate Minister, currently serving as the Spiritual Development/Discipleship Director at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.  In this capacity she is responsible for designing, leading and implementing learning activities and the development of programs to help meet church-wide ministry needs in order to assist ministries with achieving their goals. She has received her Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Master of Theology and in June of 2006 she graduated with her Doctorate of Theology.

Min. Tracy Ward

Youth Minister

 

Min. Tracy Ward is currently the Youth Minister at New Jerusalem Baptist Church and has been since 2009. She was licensed as a Minister in 2009; however, Min. Ward has served her church congregation continuously throughout the years in various capacities, including as a Trustee, Vacation Bible School staff and Adult Sunday School Teacher.

 
Min. Ward is an elementary school teacher with the New York City Department of Education.  Her career mirrors her ministerial work as she proclaims that she has a passion for teaching youth, children and adults.

Rev. Lynette Love

Missions Ministry
Director

 

"Life with Christ is an endless hope; Without Christ a hopeless end."  Rev. Lynette Love is an Associate Minister and the Director of the Missions Ministry at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.  She was licensed to preach in 1994, ordained as an Elder in May 1998 and then ordained as a Reverend in September 1998.  Her past service to the Body of Christ include being a founder of New Life Missionary Baptist Church, member of New Jerusalem's Justice Ministry, the Vice President of the Senior Adult Ministry, as well as Director of the Missions Ministry.  The ministry was formed as charged by Rev. Dr. Rice, in order to reach out into the community to collaborate with other organizations to serve those in need.
